Mandakini, or garden plot as we lovingly call this plot, has beautifully maintained chickoo, pomegranate, and neem trees. With a house on the eastern side, and a very dense forest growth on the southern boundary, greens and veggies alike struggled to grow in some sections, while the excellent soil pushed the lettuce to flourish in other sections.
Today, we grow corn and towar dal at the entrance to the plot, while the sanguine portion has been dedicated to growing saplings. One section is dedicated to greens, while 2 sections are intercropped with okra, beans, leeks, lettuce, spinach, coriander, and methi along the drip irrigation lines. The greens are added to outcompete the weeds while providing ground cover and revenue.
